Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), a renowned Institution of Eminence Deemed to be University, began in 1953 with India's first self-financing medical college under a unique Public Private collaboration model. Recognized by the Government of India as a Deemed to be University in June 1993, MAHE has excelled in academics, infrastructure, and research. In October 2020, it achieved the prestigious status of an Institution of Eminence (IoE) from the Ministry of Education.

MAHE hosts over 35,000 students from 60+ countries at its expansive campus in Karnataka's Udupi district.
