About College
Sree Narayana College, Kannur, a prominent institution in Kannur District, was established in honor of the revered saint and social reformer, His Holiness Sree Narayana Guru, by the Sree Narayana Trusts, Kollam. Founded under the pioneering efforts of Late Sri. R. Sankar, the college was formally inaugurated on July 6th, 1960, by the then Chief Minister of Kerala, Late R. Sankar.
Starting as a junior college, it has evolved into a comprehensive post-graduate institution with affiliated research centers in Zoology, Chemistry, and Commerce. Affiliated with Kannur University, the college educates nearly two thousand students across Arts, Science, and Commerce disciplines at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Located on a tranquil twenty-acre campus known as `Govardhan Giri' at Thottada, approximately 6 kilometers south of Kannur town, the college owes its premises to a generous donation by Late Haridas Govardhandas Khimji. The college is supported by a Regional Development Council (R.D.C.) led by a president, which has been instrumental in enhancing its infrastructure over the years. Noteworthy figures such as Late Kayiath Damodaran and Late Dr. T.P. Balakrishnan have served as influential members of the R.D.C.
Throughout its five decades of existence, Sree Narayana College has significantly contributed to the educational, social, and cultural fabric of its home district. It boasts an impressive track record in both academic and extracurricular spheres, a testament to the dedication of its students, staff, and patrons.
