About College
Kannur University, established under Act 22 of 1996 by the Kerala Legislative Assembly, traces its origins to the earlier "Malabar University," which was formed by ordinance on November 9, 1995. Inaugurated on March 2, 1996, by then Chief Minister Sri A.K Antony, the university aims to promote higher education across Kasargod and Kannur revenue districts, as well as Mananthavady Taluk in Wayanad District.
Notably, Kannur University operates as a multi-campus institution, with campuses strategically located throughout its jurisdiction. The Act mandates the establishment, management, and development of campuses in Kannur, Kasaragod, Nileswaram, Mangattuparamba, Mananthavady, Payyannur, Thalassery, and other necessary locations. These campuses facilitate study and research in various disciplines, emphasizing advanced knowledge in Science, Technology, and other relevant fields.
