NISH (National Institute of Speech and Hearing) is an autonomous organization registered as a society under the Social Justice Department of the Government of Kerala. The institute has received notable accreditations, including:

Established in 1997, NISH is a leading multi-purpose institute dedicated to the identification, intervention, rehabilitation, and education of individuals with disabilities. Over the years, it has played a pioneering role in enhancing the quality of life for the disabled community and has implemented numerous programs across the state. NISH is distinguished by its inclusive campus, which brings together students and staff with diverse abilities.

NISH's key activities include:

• Project Implementation: Managing various disability-related projects for the Government of India and the Government of Kerala.
• Policy Consultations: Providing expert advice on policy formulation and implementation related to disability.
• Trans-disciplinary Assessment and Intervention: Offering comprehensive services for communication disorders, autism spectrum disorders, and other developmental disabilities through a team of specialists, including audiologists, speech-language pathologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, special educators, psychologists, ENT doctors, and neurologists.
• Early Intervention Programs: Supporting young children with hearing impairments and autism spectrum disorders before they enter school.
• Academic Programs: Offering degree courses for students with hearing impairments and professional rehabilitation courses such as BASLP, MSc (Audiology), MSc (Speech Pathology), BOT, DECSE, and DISLI.
• Assistive Technology: Conducting assessments, implementations, and follow-ups for assistive technology.
• Counseling and Guidance: Providing counseling services and parent guidance.
• Camps and Outreach: Organizing public seminars, hands-on workshops, and continuing education programs.
