About College
The captivating journey of Besant Institutions commenced in 1918 when Dr. Annie Besant, the esteemed social reformer, laid the cornerstone for Besant Primary School at Kodialbail in Mangalore. Initially overseen by the Theosophical Society of India, the school welcomed distinguished figures such as Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore, the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, and the Governor General of India, Chakravarti Rajagopalachari.
In 1943, the Women’s National Education Society (WNES) assumed control of the school administration from the Theosophical Society. Since then, the institution has experienced consistent expansion under the guidance of visionary leaders such as the late Manel Srinivas Nayak, late B. Damodar Prabhu, late Manel Krishna Nayak, and the late Prof. P. P. Gomathi.
Their forward-thinking endeavors led to the establishment of several institutions, including Besant Higher Primary School (Kannada Medium), National High School (Kannada Medium), Besant English School, Besant National Pre-University College, Besant Women’s College, and Besant Evening College.
In 1999, WNES embarked on its most prestigious academic venture, inaugurating the MSNM Besant Institute of PG Management Studies on a new campus situated at Bondel, on the outskirts of Mangalore. Today, this institute stands as the flagship of WNES, acclaimed as a pioneer in modern management education.
