About College

Since its founding in 1949 under the visionary guidance of Servant of God Archbishop Mar Ivanios, Mar Ivanios College has been a beacon of excellence in education. As one of the Malankara Syrian Catholic Colleges managed by the Major Archdiocese of Trivandrum, the institution upholds the rights of the minority community as enshrined in the Indian Constitution. Archbishop Benedict Mar Gregorios, the first Principal and Patron of the college, served with distinction for 40 years. Currently, His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholicos, the Major Archbishop of Trivandrum, serves as the Patron and Manager, overseeing the administration through the Managing Council.

Mar Ivanios College offers a diverse range of undergraduate programs, including degrees in Economics, English (both aided and unaided), Commerce (both aided and unaided), Journalism & Mass Communication, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, and Botany & Biotechnology. Additionally, the college provides two Bachelor of Vocation (BVoc) programs under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Knowledge Acquisition and Upgradation of Skilled Human Abilities and Livelihood (DDU-KAUSHAL) Kendra, focusing on Software Development and Tourism & Hospitality Management. The institution also offers postgraduate programs in English, Malayalam with Media Studies, Commerce, Tourism & Travel Management (MTTM), Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Zoology.

Dedicated to academic excellence, Mar Ivanios College has established six research centers within its Departments of English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, and Commerce. It was the first institution affiliated with the University of Kerala to receive accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 1999 and was re-accredited with an 'A' Grade in 2004. The college underwent a third-cycle re-assessment by NAAC in 2011 and earned the status of a College with Potential for Excellence (CPE) from the UGC in 2004, a status renewed in 2014. On June 13, 2014, Mar Ivanios College was granted Autonomy status by the University of Kerala, following UGC recommendations. In the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2022, the college secured the 50th position among Arts, Science, and Commerce institutions.
