Basic B.Sc Nursing

Eligibility

• Prepare graduates to assume responsibilities as professional, competent nurses and midwives in providing promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative services.
• Prepare nurses who can make independent decisions in nursing situations, protect the rights and facilitate individuals and groups in pursuit of health, function in the hospital, community nursing services, and conduct research studies in the areas of nursing practice.
• They are also expected to assume the role of teacher, supervisor and manager in a clinical / public health setting.
• The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on 31st December of the year in which admission is sought and maximum age limit not to exceed 35 years.
• Minimum education: 10+2 class passed with Science (PCB) & English Core/English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 45% marks taken together in PCB from recognized board under AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE or other equivalent Board.
• Student shall be medically fit.
• Students appearing in 10+2 examination in Science conducted by National Institute of Open School with 45% marks.
• Student shall be admitted once in a year.
• SC/ST classes the marks obtained in PCB & English in qualifying examination be not less than 40%.

Duration

The course of the study shall be for 4 complete academic years including internship

Post Basic B.Sc Nursing:

Eligibility

• Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM)
• Registered nurse
• Passed pre university examination in arts/science/commerce conducted by Department of Pre University Education, Karnataka State or its equivalent recognised by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.
• Working knowledge of English
• Be medically fit
• Good personal and professional record.
• No candidate who is above 48 years of age on 31st December of the year of admission shall be eligible.

Duration

The course of the study shall be for 2 complete academic years. No candidate is permitted to work anywhere while studying the course.

• The candidate should be a Registered Nurse and Registered midwife or equivalent with any State Nursing Registration Council.
• The minimum education requirements shall be the passing of B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. Hons. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with minimum of 55% aggregate marks.
• The candidate should have undergone in B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. Hons. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing in an institution which is recognized by Indian Nursing Council.
• Minimum one year of work experience after Basic B.Sc. Nursing only.
• Candidate shall be medically fit.
• 5% relaxation of marks for SC/ST candidates may be given.
• Age limit not to exceed 45 years of age.

• Minimum and Maximum age for admission will be 17 and 35 years respectively
• Have passed 10+2 Class preferably science (PCB) & aggregate of 40% marks.
• 10+2 in Arts ( Mathematics, Biotechnology, Economics, Political Science, History, Geography,BusinessStudies,Accountancy,HomeScience,Sociology,Psychology,Philosophy and core/English Elective or Health care science-vocational stream only.
• Passing out from recognized Board under AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE or other equivalent board with 40% marks.
• Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized by State Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by Central Government.
• Registered ANM with State Nursing Registration Council
• 10+2 vocational ANM course from the school recognized by Indian Nursing Council
• 10+2 Health care Science – Vocational stream from a recognized CBSE board/State/Centre
• For Foreign Nationals: The entry qualification equivalency i.e., 12th standard will be obtained by Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. Institution, State Nursing Council will be responsible to ensure that the qualification and eligibility will be equivalent to what has been prescribed as above
• For Disabled Candidates: 3% Disability reservation to be considered with disability of locomotor to the tune of 40% to 50% of the lower extremity and other eligibility criteria with regard to age and qualification will be same as prescribed for each nursing programme.of 40% to 50%.
• 5% is relaxed for SC/ST candidates
• Any other quotas as per the State Govt. under the reservation policy
• Be medically fit

Ph.D in Nursing

• A post Graduate Qualification with at least 55 per cent marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7- point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) are eligible for enrollment for Ph.D course in Nursing. A relaxation of 5% marks, (from 55% to 50%), or an equivalent relaxation of grade, shall be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
• The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the grace mark procedures.
• The candidate intending to register for Ph. D. programme shall appear for the entrance test conducted by the University and shall be qualifying test with qualifying marks as 50% as published list of RGUHS.
• Admissions : Departmental entrance test and interview

• The candidate will be eligible to appear for the Pre Ph.D. examination only after the completion of one year from the date of provisional registration provided his/her first and second half yearly progress reports are found satisfactory.
• The Provisional Ph.D Registration of the candidate will be confirmed only after the candidate passes the Pre Ph. D Examination
