The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram (IISER TVM) is committed to delivering world-class scientific research and education. In India, undergraduate science education has traditionally been separated from research. To address this gap, the Ministry of Education, Government of India, established the IISERs, including IISER TVM, which was founded in 2008. The institute's mission is to offer high-quality education in modern science, seamlessly integrating research from the undergraduate level and fostering a spirit of inquiry across disciplines. IISER TVM operates as an autonomous institution, offering a five-year BS-MS program as well as iPh.D. and Ph.D. programs in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Earth & Environmental Science, Data Science, and interdisciplinary fields.

Situated in Vithura, 40 kilometers from Thiruvananthapuram city, and nestled at the base of the Ponmudi hills, IISER TVM’s eco-friendly campus is surrounded by lush greenery and stunning mountain views, creating an ideal setting for research and learning. The institute provides hostel accommodation for all students and features a fully functional multi-cuisine mess managed by a student committee.

Faculty members at IISER TVM engage in cutting-edge research in basic sciences, enjoying significant autonomy and creative freedom.
