About College
Established in 1875, the Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram, stands as one of the oldest institutions for legal education in India. Affiliated with the Faculty of Law at the University of Kerala and governed by the Government of Kerala, the college was ranked 23rd among law colleges in India by INDIA TODAY in 2007.
The college offers several programs, including a 2-year LLM degree with specializations in Constitutional Law & Criminal Law, Criminology and Penology; a 3-year LLB degree; and a 5-year integrated LLB degree. Admission to these programs is through a common entrance examination conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examination, Government of Kerala.
With a distinguished and experienced faculty, the college consistently produces top scorers at the university level. It boasts a well-maintained library and reading room for student use and provides hostel facilities for female students, while male students are accommodated in a separate block at the University Men's Hostel in Palayam.
In alignment with Supreme Court directives, the college has established an Anti-Ragging Committee and an Anti-Ragging Squad, led by the Principal, to prevent ragging. Additionally, a Women Grievance Cell is in place to address the welfare and concerns of female students.
