About College

The College of Architecture Trivandrum (CAT) is one of the largest architecture and design schools in Trivandrum, the capital of Kerala, India. Established in 2011 as a private, stand-alone institute, CAT specializes in offering a full-time Bachelor of Architecture program with an annual intake of 120 students across three batches. In 2019, the college expanded its offerings by introducing a Bachelor of Design (B Des) program, becoming the first institution in the state to provide a full-time design degree.

CAT attracts students from all over Kerala and neighboring states, quickly establishing itself as one of the most sought-after institutions for B Arch and B Des courses in the self-financing sector. The college is affiliated with A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technological University and boasts a comprehensive curriculum that has received approval from the Council of Architecture (COA) for its B Arch program and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for its B Des program.

With strong connections to various international institutions, CAT is recognized as a global D-school dedicated to fostering positive change in the design of the built environment through creative and collaborative academic initiatives at both national and international levels.

Course Details

B.Arch

Architectural education in C.A.T takes the challenge of preparing students to deal the uncertainty of future. This demands to focus on

  • Exposure to new technologies like BIM, Virtual Reality and GIS.
  • Researching social structure to understand cultural requirements.

B.Des

Design education in C.A.T leading to B.Des is one of its kind in the state of Kerala. India Design Council, Government of India and Government of Kerala are keen to take India as world design hub through innovation and design management initiatives.

B.Des of C.A.T addresses both issues of perception and to link crafts with design. The program focuses on three fundamental aspects that we believe would enhance value, employability and marketability.
