About College

The College of Agriculture, Padannakkad, Kasargod was established in 1994, initially operating from the RARS, Pilicode campus before relocating to Padannakkad in 1998 as the 3rd agricultural college of KAU.

The college's inception aimed to advance agricultural education, research, and extension services in Kerala's Malabar region, focusing on local agricultural challenges and opportunities. The establishment of the college involved transferring the erstwhile Coconut Farm (Nileswar III), Padannakkad, from the Department of Agriculture to Kerala Agricultural University, supported by an initial public subscription of Rs. 1.0 crore, largely funded through the 1994-95 Kerala Government budget. The new Padannakkad campus officially opened in 1998, inaugurated by the then Chief Minister of Kerala, Sri. E.K. Nayanar.

In 2019, the college expanded with the addition of the Karuvachery farm, enhancing its capacity with two instructional farms. These facilities are pivotal in providing quality planting materials and essential inputs for scientific crop production and management, addressing the needs of local farmers effectively.
