Co-Operative Institute Of Health Sciences, Thalassery, Kannur

Established in 1999 under the Kerala Co-operative Hospital Federation Ltd., CO-OPERATIVE INSTITUTE OF HEALTH SCIENCES, THALASSERY (CIHS) is a distinguished college situated in Thalassery, Kannur, Kerala. Founded by Sri. Narayanan, a key figure in the cooperative movement, the college aims to provide quality education and healthcare services in North Malabar.

Initially affiliated with Calicut University for its Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) course, CIHS shifted affiliation to Kannur University in 2005. In 2008, the college expanded its offerings to include B.Sc. courses in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), Medical Microbiology, and Medical Biochemistry. In 2010, CIHS introduced postgraduate programs in Physiotherapy (M.P.T.) with specializations sanctioned by Kannur University, later affiliating all programs with Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) in 2014.

All courses at CIHS are approved by the Kerala Paramedical Council, Government of Kerala, with annual intake including 50 seats in BPT, and varying seats in B.Sc. courses and M.P.T. programs. Admission criteria emphasize merit based on academic performance in relevant subjects.

With two decades of academic excellence supported by qualified faculty, well-equipped laboratories, gym facilities, and a comprehensive library, CIHS fosters holistic development and learning in the paramedical field.
