Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian College, Bangalore: A Legacy of Women's Education Since 1985

Rooted in a rich tradition of over 150 years of educational excellence stemming from the esteemed Bishop Cotton Girls’ School, Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian College (BCWCC) carries a legacy of empowering women through quality education. Named in honor of Bishop Edward George Lynch Cotton of Calcutta, the visionary behind Bishop Cotton Girls’ School, the college initially shared its campus before establishing an independent facility in July 1999 to accommodate its growth and development.

Founded in 1985 as a Junior College, BCWCC has evolved into a distinguished First Grade Degree College (since September 1987) and a Post Graduate College (since 2018), currently nurturing over 2074 students. The college operates under the esteemed management of the Board of Management, a part of the Karnataka Central Diocese of the Church of South India.

Embodying the powerful Latin motto ‘Nec Dextrorsum – Nec Sinistrorsum’, meaning ‘neither to the right nor to the left’ (derived from the biblical command to Joshua), Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian College instills in its students the core values of integrity, unwavering justice, and active, constructive engagement with society.
