Besant Women's College Mangaluru

Founded in 1977 by the visionary Late Manel Srinivas Nayak, Besant Women’s College has grown under the dynamic leadership of successors like Late B. DamodarPrabhu and Late Manel Krishna Nayak. Inspired by the noble ideals of Dr. Annie Besant, the college stands as one of the rare institutions in the district dedicated solely to women's education. Committed to making higher education accessible to all, especially those from economically and socially disadvantaged backgrounds, the college aims to challenge societal biases against women and broaden their life choices.

Affiliated with Mangalore University, Besant Women’s College offers undergraduate programs in Arts, Commerce, Science, and Business Management, leading to B.A., B.Com., B.Sc., and B.B.A. degrees, respectively, with diverse subject combinations. Additionally, the college provides postgraduate programs in M.Com, M.Sc., and UGC-sponsored job-oriented courses in Computer Networking.

Recognized by the UGC under the 2(f) and 12B of UGC Act of 1956, Besant Women’s College achieved 'A' grade accreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in January 2017.
