Alva's Ayurveda Medical College Moodubidire, Mangaluru

In pursuit of spreading high-quality professional education to the populace of Moodbidri, Alva’s Education Foundation, led by the visionary Dr. M. Mohan Alva, established Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College in 1996. Affiliated with the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in Bangalore, Karnataka, and approved by the Central Council of Indian Medicine in New Delhi, this institution has embarked on an 18-year journey dedicated to delivering top-tier medical education in the Indian system of Medicine. Drawing students from across India and beyond, this saga began with an initial cohort of 60 students, growing steadily over the years to enroll 100 students annually in the 4 ½-year Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (B.A.M.S) course.

After a decade of service in undergraduate education, the institution reached another milestone in 2006 by introducing postgraduate courses in two disciplines: Dravyaguna Vijnana and Shalya Tantra. Subsequently, four more specialties—Panchakarma, Kaumarabhritya, Ayurveda Siddhanta, and Shareera Rachana—were added. In the academic year 2010-11, five additional specialties were introduced: Kayachikitsa, Rasashastra, Bhaishajya Kalpana, Agada Tantra, and Prasooti Tantra and Stree Roga. Continuing this expansion, last year (2015-16), the institution initiated postgraduate courses in five new subjects: Shalakya Tantra, Manasa Roga, Roga Nidana evam Vikruti Vijnana, Swasthavritta, and Kriya Shareera. Furthermore, in 2014, the institution commenced a Ph.D. program in the subject of Dravya Guna.
