Course Details

Bachelor of Science (B.S.)

1) Computer Science & Engineering:

The Department of Computer Science was established in the year 2001 with the objective of imparting quality education in the field of Computer Science. The Department has modern facilities for teaching, learning and research.

The department has dedicated, qualified and experienced faculty members to guide the students in academics. With rapidly evolving technology and the continuous need for innovation, the Department has produced quality professionals holding important positions in the IT industry in India and abroad.


2) ELECTRONICS & COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING

Electronics and Communication Engineering is a 4-year degree programme, affiliated to the VTU was started in the year 2001. ECE is the utilization of science and math applied to practical problems in the field of communications. It includes designing, fabrication, testing, maintenance, supervision, and manufacturing of electronic equipments in entertainment, media, hospitals (Medical Electronics), computer control systems, broadcast, communication systems and in defence. It also engage in research, design, development and testing of electronic equipment used in various communication systems. The defined courses aim to prepare students to play a leading role in the continuing adventure of modern communication, research, designing, building and marketing the next generation of products.


3) Artificial intelligence (AI) & Machine Learning (ML)

Artificial intelligence (AI) & Machine Learning (ML) is an allied branch of Computer Science, a Four year Under Graduate programme, which focuses on technology for creating intelligent machines which can think and work like human beings. The field of artificial intelligence has been an interdisciplinary endeavor, and is a technology which enables a machine to simulate human behavior. Machine learning is an application of artificial intelligence that provides systems the ability to automatically learn and improve from experience without being explicitly programmed. ML focuses on the development of computer programs that can access data and use it learn for themselves. Artificial intelligence has made its way through all sectors of society. Every person is using this technology in some or the other way. Moreover, it is modified for different age groups and industrial sectors.

The program begins with introductory courses in programming, computer science, mathematics, and statistics that provide a firm technical foundation. From there, students learn core AI concepts and techniques of AI & ML, Virtual Reality, Web Applications, Natural Language and Image Processing, Robotic Process Automation, Business Analytics, Speech Processing, Cognitive Systems, Biometrics Systems, Computer Vision, and Language Understanding. The program includes a variety of advanced AI electives, enabling technical mastery in specific subfields. Also, specific electives are introduced that will focus on the Application of AI in various industry.


4) Computer Science & Engineering (Data Science)

B.E in Computer Science & Engineering (Data Science) is a specialized undergraduate program. Data Science is an interdisciplinary study that uses scientific processes, methods, and algorithms to convert large amounts of data into actionable knowledge. Data science uses techniques and theories from mathematics, statistics, and computer science domains to provide computational solutions to real- world problems rich in data.

This specialization makes students proficient in tools and systems used by Data Science Professionals and gain the skills in developing intelligent models that cover many fields of Computer Science.


5) Mechanical Engineering

Department of Mechanical Engineering is into the development of new technologies for benefitting society. It is the broadest and oldest engineering discipline, comprising energy, fluid mechanics, dynamics, combustion, vibration, design, manufacturing processes, systems modeling and simulation, mechatronics, robotics, mechanics of material, rapid prototyping and composites domains. It is one of the preferred branches of Engineering, referring back to when the very first wheel invented and used practically by mounting them on an axle to make a cart.


6) Civil Engineering:

Civil Engineering, considered as one of the oldest engineering disciplines, encompasses many specialities. Civil engineers will Design and Supervise in construction of Roads, Buildings, Airports, Tunnels, Dams and Bridges, Water supply and Sewage systems.

The Civil Engineers' positions range from supervisory to administrative job, from Site engineer to Project managers, from design and analysis to construction works.

The major specializations within civil engineering are Structural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water resources Engineering, Construction Technology, Transportation Engineering and Management, Infrastructure Engineering Management, Geo-technical engineering, Remote Sensing and GIS, Highway Technology, Computer Aided Design of structures.


MBA

Business Administration(MBA):

Department of Business Administration(MBA) is a constituent academic unit of Vivekananda College of Engineering & Technology (VCET) was established in the year 2007. VCET is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi and approved by AICTE, New Delhi and Government of Karnataka.

MCA

MASTER OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS (MCA)

MCA programme is an important source of human resource for the software industry. The Department offers a two years course approved by AICTE, Government of Karnataka and is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum, Karnataka.

Computer Applications at Vivekananda College of Engineering & Technology is composed of core classes organized around the study of design and analysis techniques used to write software in various application domains along with details about the internal workings of computers and networks. Elective classes in areas such as Rich Internet Applications, Mobile Computing, Advanced Computer Networks, Graphics, Unix System Programming, Artificial Intelligence and others allow students to explore areas of individual interest. 

The students entering MCA must have a B.C.A./B.Sc./ B.Com/B.A. degree with Mathematics as one of the subjects at 10+2 level or at graduation.
