About College

The Vaikunta Baliga College of Law, named in honor of the esteemed late Sri. B. Vaikunta Baliga, former Law Minister of the Government of Mysore, was previously known as Udupi Law College. It operates under the aegis of the Dr. T.M.A. Pai Foundation, established in 1957 with a firm commitment to providing high-quality legal education in rural areas, transcending boundaries to establish itself as a leading institution in legal education. Its appeal to students from both India and abroad is a testament to the wisdom and foresight of its revered founder, the late Dr. T.M.A. Pai, to whom we owe eternal gratitude.

Since its inception, the college has rapidly evolved into a center for academic and cultural endeavors. Over its illustrious journey, it has celebrated its Silver Jubilee in 1982-83 and Golden Jubilee in 2006-2007. Now, it strides confidently towards its Diamond Jubilee, buoyed by the foundation of its illustrious history. It has distinguished itself by offering invaluable contributions to legal education, with its alumni occupying esteemed positions in the judiciary, legal profession, government, and corporate sectors.

Course Details

BA LLB

A candidate who has passed the two years Pre-University Examination conducted by the Pre-University Education Board in the State of Karnataka or any other examination considered as equivalent thereto by the Karnataka State Law University is eligible for admission to the Five Year B.A. LL.B Degree Course. A candidate who fulfils the above requirement, shall have obtained not less then 44.5% of the aggregate marks in the qualifying examination. (39.5% in the case of SC and ST Students).

LLB

3 academic years, 6 semesters
Eligibility A Candidate who has passed 3 years degree course or P.G.Degree from open or Deemed university recognized by and established under UGC Act, after prosecuting the studies in the pattern of 10+2+3+2 with regular studies at secondary & Higher Secondary Schooling (12th Std) is eligible for admission provided the candidate as obtained not less than 44.5% in degree or P.G.(39.5.% in case SC/ST candidates).

Certificate course

Certificate Course in Law and Medicine

The certificate course in Law and Medicine will enable a student to have a broad overview of the legal framework governing the healthcare industry. Students will also gain an understanding of various ethical standards that need to be followed in different circumstances. Overall, the course will provide information on the three broad areas for medical practice, which include regulatory compliances, laws pertaining to the practice of medicine, and laws related to ethical conduct. The course will enable the students to face the legal, regulatory, and business challenges of modern medical practice.
