SDM Law college Mangaluru

Established in 1974, SDM Law College has been a pioneer in delivering high-quality legal education in southern India. With a steadfast commitment to providing legal education to all sections of society, the institution has garnered a reputation for excellence that endures through the years.

Initially affiliated with the University of Mysore, the college flourished under the guidance of the eminent lawyer Prof. N J Kadamba, who was deeply dedicated to the cause of education. Under his leadership, the college expanded significantly, evident in the achievements of its alumni who have made noteworthy contributions to the nation.

Originally offering a 3-year LL.B Programme, the college transitioned to Mangalore University and became the first institution in India to introduce the 5-year LL.B Course. Embracing new courses and innovative approaches, the college experienced substantial growth, reflected in its academic records and the accomplishments of its students, who consistently excelled in examinations.

Today, the college is affiliated with Karnataka State Law University, Hubballi, which facilitates the advancement of legal education in the state. The institution maintains a distinctive curriculum, including a traditional two-semester academic year that provides ample opportunities for extracurricular activities and internships.

Recognized for its excellence, the college received accreditation from NAAC with a B++ grade in 2007 and subsequently achieved reaccreditation with an A grade in 2012. Various educational agencies have also ranked the college prominently in their surveys, further validating its standing in the field of legal education.
