The National Institute of Unani Medicine (NIUM) Bangalore, operating as an autonomous organization under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India since 2004, is being developed as a premier model for postgraduate teaching, training, and cutting-edge research in the Unani System of Medicine.

Comprehensive Campus Infrastructure:

Our extensive campus houses a dedicated Academic Block, a well-equipped Hospital Building, a comprehensive Library, a functional Pharmacy, an efficient Administrative Block, a valuable Herbal Garden, a controlled Animal House, a comfortable Guest House, an Indoor Games Hall, separate Hostels, Residential Blocks, and various other essential units to support academic and research activities.

NIUM holds the distinction of being the first institute in India to commence a PhD program in Unani Medicine, starting in the session 2014-15. Currently, we offer PhD programs in two key disciplines: Moalajat (Medicine) and Ilmul Advia (Pharmacology).

The Institute actively organizes academic events such as CMEs, Workshops, Seminars, and Guest Lectures featuring eminent scholars in the field. Our faculty members are regularly deputed for specialized training programs to enhance their technical and professional expertise. To further elevate our teaching and research standards, NIUM collaborates with leading scientific institutions like NIMHANS Bangalore and Al-Ameen College of Pharmacy Bangalore.

State-of-the-Art Unani Hospital:

The NIUM Hospital features a dedicated OPD wing and a 180-bed IPD with separate wards for male and female patients. We provide comprehensive clinical services through general and specialty OPDs catering to various health concerns, including skin diseases, GIT and Hepatobiliary Disorders, Neurological, Psychiatric, and Geriatric Care. The hospital also offers facilities for family planning and personalized nutritional advice for patients with obesity, hypertension, and diabetes.

Specialized Therapeutic Centers:

Our Regimenal Therapy (Ilaj Bit Tadbeer) Centre offers specialized treatments such as Massage, Cupping, Leeching, and Hammam. The Neuro-rehabilitation Centre addresses the needs of patients suffering from neurological disorders like stroke, myopathy, epilepsy, motor-neuron disease, Parkinsonism, hemiplegia, and paraplegia. While providing authentic Unani treatment, the hospital is also equipped with modern Diagnostic Laboratories for Pathology, Biochemistry, Radiology, and Ultrasonography. Furthermore, NIUM Hospital extends its healthcare services to socioeconomically weaker sections of the community through regular health camps.
