Conceptualized in 2007 to address the growing demand for qualified stem cell professionals in the healthcare sector, the Manipal Institute of Regenerative Medicine (MIRM) proudly stands as Asia’s first consolidated scholastic and research program in Stem Cell Technology and Regenerative Biology.

Our primary aim is to cultivate young students towards successful careers in the cutting-edge fields of Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Technology. MIRM is dedicated to generating a skilled workforce trained in stem cell technologies to effectively bridge the need for stem cell-based therapeutics in India and beyond.

MIRM offers comprehensive courses at the Master’s and Ph.D. levels, built upon a robust curriculum that integrates key concepts in developmental biology, the fundamental principles of tissue engineering, and the diverse clinical and non-clinical applications of stem cells.

Beyond the rigorous academic curriculum, MIRM boasts a strong and dynamic research component. Our principal investigators specialize in several leading-edge areas, including neuro-regeneration, transplantation immunology, cancer stem cells, advanced material research, and innovative cellular reprogramming techniques.

To provide invaluable exposure to real-world stem cell research, our Master’s program includes specialized electives and a year-long, intensive project under the expert guidance of our principal investigators during the final year. Our faculty actively secure extramural funding from prominent government agencies such as DST, DBT, ICMR, BIRAC, and CSIR, as well as international funding bodies, further fueling their groundbreaking research. The high-quality publications arising from research conducted at MIRM have significantly contributed to the expanding knowledge base in regenerative medicine.

The success of MIRM’s initial mission is evident in the numerous research positions secured by our graduates across industry, academia, and the healthcare sector.
