Kempegowda Institute of Physiotherapy, Bangalore: Leading Quality Physiotherapy Education Since 1997

Recognizing the increasing global importance of Physical Rehabilitation, the Vokkaligara Sangha established the Kempegowda Institute of Physiotherapy in Bangalore in 1997. This initiative aimed to train individuals in this vital healthcare area, furthering their mission of providing comprehensive healthcare to the needy and underserved.

With permission granted by the Government of Karnataka and affiliation with the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, the institute initially began with a Bachelor’s Degree program in Physical Therapy (BPT) with an intake of 25 students within the Department of Physiotherapy at the Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS).

Today, the Department has evolved significantly in terms of facilities and faculty, gaining an independent identity as the “Kempegowda Institute of Physiotherapy”, named in honor of ‘Sri Kempegowda’, the esteemed founder of Bangalore City. The institution now boasts an annual intake of 40 students in the Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) program and 10 students in the Master of Physiotherapy (MPT) program.

Mission:

Quality Education and skill training in Physical Therapy to gear a student to face the challenges in Health Care.

• To impart quality education in Physical therapy and its allied subjects.

• To bring about ambassadors of the profession with ethical values.
  
• To bring out quality research and scientific data for the expansion of the body of knowledge, of the profession.
  
• To provide quality Physical therapy services to the needy at affordable cost.
  
• To produce individuals of high mortality (morality), integrity, and emotional intelligence, capable of working in a group.
